Sarita Film

Included here are short films I have produced and links to longer works. My filmmaking began in 2013 when I bravely volunteered to film my son's social development project in Malawi. Dr. Tony Robinson and his team from Trinity College, Dublin, designed a Thermoelectric Generator (TEG) that could be driven by heat from daily cook-fires in villages off the grid.

There are always plans for more films.

Hippo View Lodge - Malawi

I was to remain in Malawi to film the planned Mayani Food Distribution Project for Concern Universal, but Tony was soon to return home. We decided to do one tourist-like thing and take an excursion up the Shire River at Hippo View Lodge and invited Alex, our driver, to join us for the day. This was my first film, my practice for the promise I made to the TEG Team and to Concern Universal. You can view this film on YouTube by clicking                                or view below.

TEG Promo #1

This is a promotional video for the TEG project filmed by my son, Luke and edited by myself. This little film was shown broadly in many classrooms in Malawi and Great Britain. Most extraordinary is the joy with which this challenging and strenuous work is undertaken. Every task is carried by song, and the lyrics celebrate their enterprise. Formerly a banana producer, this village lost its groves to a blite. The mbauwla stoves became their salvation, and they have prospered since taking on this new industry. Note also that the men and women work shoulder to shoulder.

Malawi Joy and Love

My son, Luke, arrived early that morning, hit record on the camera, and all this unfolded. the entire segment could have run without an edit! The woman created a promotin for  the stoves inpromptu, grabbed props, acted out parts as they sang about abandoning the three-stone fire for this forest-saving and life-saving device. And the joy is astonishing!

The µPower Cookstove Story

This is more footage from Luke's film excursion to Malawi to record the people and the process of a very special village, far off the grid, from hard, dry clay to finished product.

Mayani Food Distribution

This film was produced for Concern Universal, one of the many sponsors and prime fascilitator of a day I shall never forget. This district had been stricken with drought, and food was already in short supply, when after some months of delay, the team from Concern were able to bring the area villagers together and distribute food enough to see them through to the next growing season.  You may view the film on YouTube with the link                                                             or view below.
