Light, Glorious Light

In this fireside we explore the extraordinary qualities and characteristics of light and the amazing implications this has for understanding our relationship with the Creator.

Light, Glorious Light Exercise

1.  Explain to the group as if to an alien, the meaning of the phrases below, or write an explanation of three phrases of you choosing.

 

  • That child is very bright!

  •  

  • Aunt Irene would light up a room.

  •  

  • The old man had a warm heart.

  •  

  • After the conference everyone was glowing.

  •  

  • The faces of the delegates were radiant.

  •  

  • After the consultation we felt enlightened.

 

2.  Add as many light adjectives as you can to the list below as in "Mottled Light."

                        Sparkling

                        Heavenly

                        Veiled

                        Morning

                        Brilliant

                        Shimmering

                        Blazing

                        Ancient

                        Eternal

                        Nascent

                        Dancing

                        Peaceful

                        Calming

                        

3.  Choose one pair from your list and write a Haiku poem.

 

Mottled forest light

Danced before my footfalls

Laughter-painted path

4.  Discuss as a group, or compose a brief talk on "The Intimacy of Light" as described in this presentation.

5.  Knowing the relationship between the composition of the sun and the colours of the rainbow, explain in your own words how a rainbow might symbolize Divine Revelation.
